Fantastic

At the moment, I'm speechless. I need some time to compose my response, but in the meantime, read this and say it with me, "Obama in '08!" ;)

i second the notion.

on the american people
"They may still vote, out of
habit, anger, or some atavistic sense of civic obligation. But they
don’t have much confidence that government can do them a lot
of good. They hope, at best, that it does them no harm. "
frightening. but really, it's pretty true right. it's easy to lose hope in the face of the insurmountable. i look at this current administration (though the problems go far deeper than that. they just happen to be the biggest ax weilder right now.) and feel defeated. their agenda merits no respect and hoping for any change is nothing more than a pipe dream as long as the GOP still holds the majority. so what do i find myself thinking? i "hope, at best, that it does me no harm". if we can just get through the next couple of years without them destroying everything, then maybe, just maybe, there is a chance things can start to turn around.

to me, the most apt description one could give to Barack would be genuine.

Try Hillary v. McCain. Hopefully the Dems come up with another viable candidate or it will be another campaign framed by the right that focuses on bullshit issues and tabloid trash. Maybe Hillary will fuck a young intern and the press won't have to work at all to cover any real issues.
